There is no fixed number published, because it depends on the cultivar, the height and the time of year. Send us the quantity you have in mind and we will tell you plainly whether it is something we can supply well — and if it is not, we will say so rather than stretch.

Plants for planting moving between EU member states travel with plant health documentation. We confirm in writing, together with your quote and before you commit to anything, exactly which documents will accompany your consignment. If you are buying from outside the EU, tell us the destination country early — the requirements differ and they affect the lead time.

The two lifting seasons are spring, roughly March to April, and autumn, roughly September to late November. Autumn is usually the better one for a large hedge: the soil is still warm, the plant puts its energy into roots rather than growth, and it is established before the following summer. Outside those windows we can sometimes still load, but we will tell you honestly if we think the timing works against the plants.

Brabant grows faster and wider, so it closes a gap sooner and costs less per running metre — but it needs trimming more often and can bronze in a hard winter. Smaragd stays narrow and keeps its colour, which makes it the better choice along a boundary where space is tight or where the hedge is a visible part of the design. For a long site screen most buyers take Brabant; for a front boundary, Smaragd.
